Frequently Asked Questions

Here we try to answer the most common questions we get. Please feel free to send us any questions you have and we will promptly respond with an answer.

Do you have hot and cold temperatures?

The ECB Spa solution is chilled between 35 °F and 37 °F (2 °C and 4 °C) to take out heat and inflammation. The solution, at this temperature, provides analgesic pain management and inhibits enzyme degeneration of tendons post injury

Water aeration has a massaging effect on the leg and increases the dissolved oxygen content of the spa solution.

The depth of the water is proportionate to the pressure exerted on the leg which aids fluid and waste dispersal. Water depth is adjustable dependent upon the position and severity of injury.

As water temperature decreases, its ability to carry oxygen increases. Increased oxygenation through the introduction of aeration is believed to enhance natural defence systems, much like the use of a hyperbaric chamber for humans

How much salt is in the spa?

110 lbs of Sodium Chloride (Table Salt) and 165 lbs of Magnesium Sulphate(Epson Salt) mixed with 2000 Litres of water.

What does the salt do for the horse?

Salt acts like a poultice drawing out inflammation and infection. The pure mineral compound for Epson salts are magnesium and sulfate, both readily absorbed through the skin.

Magnesium plays a number of roles in the body including regulating the activity of over 325 enzymes reducing inflammation and helping muscle and nerve functions. It is important for combatting stress and fluid retention and calming the nervous system.

Sulfates help improve the absorption of nutrients and flush toxins. Potassium energizes the body and is a crucial mineral to replenish following intense exercise.

Calcium is effective at preventing water retention, increasing circulation and strengthening bones.
